2024 Spring Species Contest is coming up!!! The contest is a great way to challenge yourself to try some different things, and is a blast! See the link below for the Registration page. This contest lasts the month of June and whoever catches the most different species of fish (standard, not micro) becomes Champion and will receive a handmade fishing rod. Kid's winner gets a trophy!
The Contest is $10 to enter in the continental US (PM me if outside), and we will ship you a button. You must be registered by May 24th at Midnight in order to receive your button in time.
We define Standard fish as a freshwater species that can attain a pound in weight. Here's a link to the list of accepted species - https://www.roughfish.com/contest-species-list
Link to registration page - https://www.roughfish.com/node/add/contest-registration Awesome killer artwork for the button by Olaf Nelson from Moxoxstoma.com and Chinook Design, Inc.! Actual design is slightly different than shown here. We will likely be making some shirts as well, stay tuned if you'd like to order one.

I got my lifer black sea bass off that same pier in 2020.

Exceptionally rare catch for just about anyone. I was fortunate to catch two on this day off of fish bites on the bottom.

Not a common species at all and not too many anglers have caught one.

This looks like a silver redhorse to me

That's an absolutely BEHEMOTH Burbot specimen! I'd estimate at about 12 to 14 pounds in weight. Amazing catch! Congratulations!

This fish has a grey tail, which rules out river reshorse. Looks like a silver or golden to me. Do you have any other photos of the fish?
