Speckled Madtom, Noturus leptacanthus

 

The speckled madtom is a very common species of madtom in the southeastern US, occurring from Louisiana to South Carolina and down to central Florida. It's easily distinguished from other madtoms by the profusion of variously-sized black dots that cover the upper parts of its body.
