Main image is a typical 'German Brown pond Trout' of the Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland (introduced sp.) caught through an ice hole. Second image is of a Newfoundland 'sea trout' (sea run Salmo trutta, introduced sp.) caught on a small black fly in salt water at the Quidi Vidi gut, St. John's NL (May 2016). Third image is an old one, the 8 pound fish was caught by casting a silver #9 Countdown Rapala from the bridge at Parrotts Bay, Amherstview, Lake Ontario near Kingston, Ontario (May 1989) - a typical Lake Ontario fish. Fourth image is another Newfoundland 'sea trout' (sea run Salmo trutta) caught off the beach in sea water at Chance Cove, Avalon Peninsula. Introduced in the 1880s to the Avalon Peninsula of Newfoundland, Salmo trutta has been gradually increasing its range and displacing lake, stream and sea-run populations of the native Brook Trout.
