The Gila Trout is a species of salmonid related to the rainbow and cutthroat trout.  Found only in the desert Southwestern regions of Arizona and New Mexico (mostly New Mexico), it is a rare catch indeed.  This fish was downlisted from Endangered to Threatened status in 2006.  Now, in 2013, there is limited legal fishing for this beautiful fish in New Mexico and Arizona.
