Wataka fishingwithpole

Onga River, Fukuoka, Japan

Ischikauia steenackeri. Caught on an earth worm at a tributary of the Onga River, Fukuoka, Japan in October 2011. Wataka in this Onga River was originally introduced from Lake Biwa in Japan, allegedly as a fishing target, and is currently quite abundant in the system. When I caught my first ever golden shiner in Ontario, Canada, I thought it was so to speak Canadian wataka, especially by the resemblance of the lateral lines.
