Notes:
My first ever Sumi-ukigori caught at a small stream mouth in northern Fukuoka, Japan, on a live bloodworm. Sumi-ukigori can be distinguished from its close relative, Ukigori, by lacking a black blotch at the back end of the first dorsal fin. Sumi-ukigori inhabit in the lower portion and mouth of rivers, are distributed all over Japan, and grow to 9 cm.
