My first ever Shima-yoshinobori caught at a tributary mouth of a river near the mouth in northern Fukuoka, Japan, on a live blood worm. Shima-yoshinobori which means striped yoshinobori and is formerly yoshinobori (Rhinogobius brunneus) was recently separated. Shima-yoshinobori is characterized by worm-like lines on the cheek, bluish body color, and stripes on the caudal fin. Shima-yoshinobori is distributed in Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Ryukyu Islands in Japan and grows to 13 cn.
