Coregonus clupeaformis

8/2/93
Both fish in the right hands are lake whitefish...the left-handed fish are lakers. These were caught jigging in 60 ft of water off a point on the east side of Flathead Lake, MT. These non-native lake whitefish were stocked from Lake Superior in the early 1900's. They have developed a distinctive spawning habit of running many miles up Flathead River to spawn every fall.
