The White Bass is a chunky, fast, powerful fish. A real handful on light tackle. It is usually found in rivers and impoundments, and travels in schools. They'll hit absolutely anything. The White Bass gets up to five pounds in weight. They are a very fun fish to pursue, with either spinning tackle or a flyrod. They feed mostly on baitfish, and schools of white bass will tear into a school of baitfish so savagely that flocks of seagulls often follow the schools around, picking off the crippled minnows that the bass have missed. They can often be found below dams in the springtime; the rest of the year they roam around in deep water, or in current breaks in smaller rivers.
