Lately when I am teaching fly tying to newbie trout anglers, I include
the Usual in my short list of "must-ties". Tied completely with
snowshoe hare's foot. It's easy to tie, and extremely versatile as it
can be fished dry, swung wet or fished dead-drift as a nymph. It also
catches lots of trout. They usually don't have a hare's foot in their
tying kit, so I'll give them one and it should last them almost forever.
