HOOK: Down-eye scud hook #12-18 THREAD: Cream TAIL: 3 strands Pearl Crystal Flash BODY: Amber Superfine Dubbing POST: Orange Float High-Vis or Poly Yarn THORAX: Light Hare's Ear Dubbing HACKLE: Cream
A wonderful emerger pattern, this fly also imitates the cripple and will work when duns are on the water. Floatant should be applied to the hackle and the post ONLY; the rest of the fly should penetrate the water's surface. The post color can be anything; pink or chartreuse is also good. This is primarily a trout fly, but mooneyes do love to inhale it. Of course, their toothy tongues make short work of this fly.
