Sturgeon, Shovelnose

Lifer #4 for 2014!! A BEAUTIFUL fish, and my first fish ever out of the Mississippi River!!! When it came up on shore, I thought it was a pallid sturgeon due to its coloration, but closer inspection revealed it to be a ghostly shovelnose. The river gods smiled on me this day!!!

Fantastic fish, and a great 1st Mississippi catch, when that river has so many more common speices (I'm talking to you, drum) that are too eager to bite.
