Missouri River- Iowa/NE border

Hey all!

I will be taking a trip down to Omaha, NE for Thanksgiving. Naturally, I looked to see if there were any good rivers on the way, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the Missouri flows right through the city! I've seen a couple of reports on this site about the Missouri, but I don't know much of anything else about it, let alone what to look for in Council Bluffs or Omaha to find spots. Since I'll only be there for a few days, I'd rather not do a ton of wandering around to find my first spot if I can avoid it, so I was hoping someone on here has a little experience in the area. I also don't really know what species it has in particular that I haven't had a chance at so far (Preliminary research shows that Nebraska's DNR only seems to care about bass, walleye, pike, panfish, and (finally) shovelnose sturgeon, and the internet really is a difficult place to find information on roughfish.........I'm still new to this, so bear with me.

I see that there are Pallid sturgeon, but of course I have no expectation to catch one, haha. And I don't think late November is a very good time for Flathead? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Any information on the stretch of river and/or how to fish it would be much appreciated! Hopefully I can turn my trip into an opportunity to catch a few lifers and/or post a report for you all!

I could be wrong, but I belie

I could be wrong, but I believe one member on here caught a Blue Sucker in that area of Nebraska. Or at least somewhere in Nebraska haha. That'd be an awesome species to catch if they're in the area.

Yeah, they've been caught in

Yeah, they've been caught in the Missouri before (Shorefisherman and TylerG have caught them, and maybe CBG?). Thanks for the reminder!

Current plan is to find ANYWHERE I can drop a line, and put the normal stuff (cutbait, crawlers) and just see what I get. I know there are Blue Cats there, which would be a cool addition.

I was mainly hoping someone could point me in the right direction as far as starting spots/parts of town to avoid. Mostly parts of town to avoid.

Edit: I totally forgot Goldeye are apparently common there. I will have to remember that.

Edit: I'll actually be closer to the Elkhorn river than Missouri, but still only ~30 minutes from the MO.
