Hello all, name is Mark proud papa to two boys who are learning to love nature through hikes outside, birding and of course, fishing.
The wife an I are very into nature and we want our kids to grow up knowing how to live in a fullfilling way enjoying what this planet has. My two boys, Elijah and Benjamin are 10 and 8, Elijah is extroverted and always ready for adventures, Benjamin is a little shy (neurodivergent) but always hungry of knowledge.
On that note, anyone here is a parent of a neurodivergent kid? I would love to hear about you and any educational materials to use online to boost our kids' skills. Both my kids are wonderful on science and nature related topics, but my Benji right now has some trouble in Math (the pandemic hasn't helped).
And we use resources such as Khan Academy or StudyPug (btw, this one is dog related), my kiddo loved the logo!, but I am always looking for more ways to help my boys and it would be awesome to hear from other parents of children in the spectrum.
Any fish related websites with educational materials out there? That would be cool!
Is nice to be here

So my boys (22 and 18), also nerodivergent (autism spectrum, OCD, and dyslexia in the youngest), are doing well these days, but I feel your pain at those ages, especially as other kids can be very mean to kids who look normal, but act a bit differently (we had to pull the youngest out of Boy Scouts as the bullying got really bad).
Best thing we found for developing both math and reading skills were role playing games (like D&D), card games like MTG, and other table top games. First, it got them to want to read. Second they have to do math in the games. Finally, it allows then to develop social skills with each other in a mentally safe space. At the ages your sons are I was always the game master and ran the games which allowed me to show them how to play in a manner that also reflected their faith in Christ and our family values. As they got older these developed into hobbies of their own. My youngest now runs the gaming club at his High School. Seeing him doing well in a leadership role almost makes me tear up.
Good luck, and if you ever want to talk about this stuff, feel free to email me at talespinner42@yahoo.com.
Oh and my boys and I also do a lot of camping, fishing, and birding, so right there with you on that.
Andy

As for some fishing sites, can't beat this one for shear volume of information, but my son and I love fishing YouTube videos too. I highly recommend 618fishing, as he does a lot of rough fishing and bank fishing (gets me though the winter). My son often now says "See you later buddy" when releasing fish, which always makes me giggle. Other good ones are NattieUpNorth, NDYakAngler, and my latest obsession, EliasVFishing. (As you can probably tell, my boy and I are not only avid bank fishermen, but have been throroughly hooked by kayak fishing.)
