- Description: There was an adventure race going on last winter with athletes from all around the world when I caught this nice burbot through the ice on Jennejohn Lake, about 30 km from Yellowknife, NWT. The first place snowshoer from the Yukon crossed the finish line, and I handed him the burbot. He was quite impressed but he didn't know what it was.

- Description: It was a long time coming catching an inconnu. Even in the North they are rare and elusive.It was made even more frustrating when a couple novice friends -- on two separate occasions on Great Slave Lake -- caught an inconnu right out of the blue as they fished next to me on MY BOAT.I finally broke my inconnu cherry four years ago, and now I seem to find them everywhere. Maybe their numbers are growing, that can't be a bad thing.

- Description: I caught this trout on a pickerel rig baited with a cisco while having a beer and waiting for my bud Jeff to finish cooking dinner where we were camped on our favourite island on the East Arm of Great Slave Lake. The line started peeling out and the rod was going crazy where it was bungee-corded to a juniper bush. Another friend there almost lost it at the shore while trying to scoop it in with my cradle -- one of the hooks became entangled in the mesh. I didn't have them time or wherewithal to measure it by I'm sure it's largest I've caught to date. Hopefully, I'll catch her again this year.

- Description: Bought a printer and was going through some old photos. Aparently this is the biggest largemouth my cousins have ever seen pulled out the lake behind their old house near Markham, Ont. I caught it on a worm under a bobber from the canoe pictured behind me about seven years ago.

- Description: I caught it in the same stream I caught the creek chub in, the Jacque River, but further up in Richmond (Ont.) I was by myself while my fiancee was out shopping. Caught on a pickerel rig baited with a worm. Love the fight, caught a couple of them and lost one more that broke me off.

- Description: Walleye -- we call them pickerel up here (yes, I'm aware of the misnomer) - don't seem very popular at this website. I don't fish for them much any more although I do like catching them. Perhaps the difference is that people don't treat it like a NASCAR event when they go fishing for them here.
