- Description: This lunker hit a crawler on bottom in the Wisconsin River on Highfin Beach. I didn't know what in the heck he was until I saw him surface - he did not fight like your everyday drum (i.e. surfboard in...) This was also the prettiest drum I have caught - the blues and grays were gorgeous. I let him go to hopefully make more like him.

- Description: A pond in the Kettle Moraine area holds a secret - there are schools of goldfish in it that have been reproducing in the wild for years - hundreds and hundreds that form huge glowing orange clouds in the water. Surreal... I used a minnow rig and a waxworm to score this life list addition. They would not hit it unless it was floating and lightly jigged.

- Description: They grow these babies BIG down south!!!! This fish nailed a mepps spinner while I was fishing Table Rock Lake in MO. He was 9 inches long!!!! I could have sworn I had a bass on until he surfaced - I almost couldn't believe it! I doubt I will ever catch one this big again - he was a very beautiful (and VERY aggressive) fish.
- Highfin Carpsucker

- Description: This is my greatest accomplishment as a fisherman so far. This amazing fish was found in the Wisconsin River feeding near shore on a sandy bottom in 2009. He hit a waxworm and was tremendously difficult to coax into biting, and when he did he went absolutely berserk! It took many hours of attempting to catch this fish before I finally brought him in. I can't wait to go out and watch them in the wild again!!

Even so they only turned on for a short amount is time that day, but while they were hungry they were voracious. This one hit a piece of nightcrawler in 2009.

- Description: WOO!! I never thought I would actually get one of these to bite, much less actually catch one!!! This fish came out of the crystal-clear waters of the Waupaca River near Weyawega WI in August 2009. He shot out of the water like a rocket when I hooked into him!! He jumped a good foot and a half out of the water and put up a hell of a fight for a foot-long fish. Thanks to JKnuth for the pointers on how to fish for them. Tiny little hook, wax worm and put it right in front of their mouths until they either swim away or bite it... you gotta hook 'em fast or away they go!

- Description: I am extremely proud of catching this fish. He was coaxed into taking a waxworm in the Wisconsin River in 2009 and is the only one of his kind I've ever caught. However, I used the 5+ hour lesson I learned in catching him to later that day catch a highfin carpsucker too - what an unbelievable day!!!!

- Description: This beautiful fish hit a crawler in the brush under a willow tree very close to shore in the Mukwonogo River in 2009 while I was fishing for Longear Sunfish with JKnuth. They are powerful fighters as far as panfish go. The water in that river is crystal clear and the bottom is strewn with gravel and mussels - it is one of the prettiest places I have ever fished.
