Wisconsin River 2 Months, 3 Weeks ago
Other than your smattering of typical rough fish, I found something interesting. WI Bob might be interested in this. At the Muscoda boatlanding there are quite a few rocks and a bend in the river where the parking culdusac is that accelerates current flow. Right on the shelf where the flood water comes into the shallows on the current break, I pulled up the first hogsucker I've ever found on the WI River.

Yes, I am very interested. Do you mean the boat landing on the south side of the river west of Hwy 80 with the gravel parking lot??? Sounds like a good fishing spot in general. I've only been in that parking lot when there was snow on the ground. So far this summer, the farthest east I fished was the Blue River bridge when JKnuth and CastNBlast were down here.

Blue River is GREAT during very low water levels in the dead of summer. The small bridge where the portable toilet is at, and the small island to the right of the second bridge as your entering Blue River from Highway 60 is a great location. After wading through 2 different stretches of brakish standing water that's kneed deep you come to a large isolated island that sees the main channel drop off to 8-10 feet. It's kind of like a hole. Right before you make it to the island, you wade through the main channels current cause it crosses from one side of the river to the other but the channel you walk through is only kneed deep. After it finishes crossing over the center sand bar, it reaches the opposite bank again, becoming normal bank depth. Good for catfish as most people don't want to walk the approximate quarter of a mile wading through water and carrying their gear. I've also seen gar carcasses their after the water drops.

As far as Muscoda, it's the public boat launch right beside the large bridge that crosses over the river right on the Richland/Grant County border. Highway 80 right as you enter town, right at the boat launch, not the small parking lot that doesn't go anywhere(other than by foot, crawling down the bank and under the bridge itself).

There is a park and public restrooms with shower and water, as well as camping and I believe a paved bike trail available there. Right after you cross the bridge into town it's like the first or second left hand turn. There are signs and you can see the concrete boat launch from the bridge.

Thanks for the info. I might have to check it out next week or so if I get to at all. The wife is due this week and to get out fishing this week will be tough. I went out yesterday so I might have used my 1 trip up for awhile.
