Mississippi River Report 3 Months ago
Well, the search for an eel has started again. No eel's last night, but fishing in general was fantastic. I got 9 species of fish, all well after it got dark, within a 3 hour time period. Caught all the fish on shrimp, crawlers and a jig. No pictures cause nothing was real large, but here's a list of species that made an appearance....

1. Walleye
2. Sauger
3. White Bass
4. SM Bass
5. Flathead Cat
6. Channel Cat
7. Drum
8. Black Crappie
9. Common Carp
10. Painted Turtle (bonus catch of the night)

I think a 12 species night (the dirty dozen) is very possible in this area I've been fishing. I'll keep you posted on the search for the elusive Eel....

Nice work Doc, the shrimp is a pretty darn good idea to try for eels.

Nine species night is fantastic, not to mention a turtle - very cool! Good luck on the continued eel quest but I'm sure going to enjoy seeing all the other stuff you catch until that happens!

Doc-
Sorry to hear no eels. Looks like you did get a nice mixed bag though.
Definitely keep trying the shrimp for eels!
