Resizing pics to proper size 3 Months, 1 Week ago
Corey- Under hall of fame maybe could you please put how to easily resize pics? How do you convert pixels to mega pixels to cm to all the different sizes available in computer lingo? Do I use paint, or can I just edit photos or do I have to get some kind of software? The ones I've posted, I guessed and got lucky after a couple hours messing with it and every time I want to post I forget how I did it and I just end up not posting. I'm obviously a comp. idiot and need guidence.

Paint will do.

To open an existing picture file, click File > Open. Browse to where the file is located on your hard drive, click to select it then click Open.
To insert a picture onto an existing canvas, use Edit > Paste From and browse to where the picture is located on your hard drive. Click to select the picture you want then click Open.
The picture will now appear on your canvas. The image will have a dotted outline meaning you can move it by clicking on it and dragging it, or you can resize it by clicking on the corner handles.
To change the appearance and size of a picture, use Image > Stretch/Skew to stretch in percent and skew in degrees. For example, if you have a picture you would like to double in size, enter 200% in the horizontal and vertical boxes.
From the Image menu you can also choose to Flip/Rotate an image, or Invert Colors which gives you a kind of 'negative' effect.

Lifted from this page.

You can use any photo-editor. Paint works. The key thing is to find the pixel size, which has to be less than 500. The function to use is usually called "Scale Image" or "Resize Image".

I use the free photo-editor called "Gimp".

However, I'm a computer programmer so I usually have trouble explaining things in plain English - you might be better off getting step-by-step instructions from someone else.

Also, uploading to photobucket allows you to change the size. I usually use the 320x240 option for message boards
