Well I got out for 2 hours at scumfoot to even the score with the bofins. I grabbed some suckers and put them under a float. After about an hour with no takes I reeled in and watched one smack the sucker so I let out line but I was impatient and set the hook too soon and pulled it out =(

Just 5 minutes later same thing only the fish missed but it was good to get out and enjoy the island all to myself!

I was the only boat out there until I left when another person launched their boat. He asked how the bite was so I told him I was going for bowfin. You can guess the rest of the conversation....

Did the guy have a duck boat? I was at the island M, T, and Wednesday and the same guy each night was launching a duck boat and going the opposite way from the island with his kid. He asked what I was fishing for and I told him suckers and then he went on and on about fishing for walleye.

I'm guessing your going to have to actually physically bleed to get a 'fin there, not just a mild concussion. That is a cool place to have to yourself. I have been there a few times early in the morning, and had the place to myself for hours.

Haha..lol..funny post. I got a laugh out of reading the part about you telling the guy launching his boat about bowfinning...that's so similar to some guy I met over at Harriet the other day. He was telling me about some "Dummy" who was fishing for Carp and how the "Dummy" threw out Corn before he dropped his line in the water...I responded with, "Well, that's what you're suppose to do because Carp have a really good sense of smell, and by chumming you bring'em in like sharks"...the guy was silent after that..lol. Better luck with the Bowfins next time.

I hope the dude wasn't talking about me! I have a feeling I have not made converts out of all the folks I meet carping down there.
