As promised.. The Heddon Rod from Scumfoot 3 Months, 4 Weeks ago
Finally made it over to my parents house today after work to take pictures of the rod I had at Scumfoot (I have acquired too many rods this season to keep them all in my van, lol). I haven't been able to find out too much about it as yet, but am still digging.

The rod has a tapered collar in front of the reel seat that unscrews. Once loosened, the rod slides apart into two parts. The reel/butt and the rod. I currently have two inserts for this combo.

#1 - 5' Heddon Mark Special Purpose #6273 Heavy Action "Musky"
#2 - 6'6" Heddon Pal Brute Stick #6299 "Power Plus Action"

The #1 insert is essentially the "broom handle" for trolling. Although, I have used it for casting on several occasions, which resulted in losing several big bucktails and spoons. Almost zero bend to the rod really plays havoc with the line. I quickly switched to Powerpro line. :P

The #2 insert is what I was using at Scumfoot. It has amazing sensitivity for a fairly stiff backbone. Trolling on Lake Parley, I could easily feel my 1/8 oz jig tapping the rock piles.

I am actively searching for other inserts for this combo, as well as a spinning version of the same type.

That's a cool and unusual looking piece of equipment!

I know what you mean about having so many rods that you don't know where to put them! I've amassed a veritable forest of carbon and graphite over the seasons. I don't think I'm well...

Wait a minute, what am I saying?! One can never have too many rods!

I agree. Very cool and unusual. Is it old? Like antique old?

As I said, I haven't been able to find much info about those model numbers. But similar model numbers are dating to the late 40s-50s
