Unexpected Minneapolis Trip 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago
Hey, everyone,

I'll be in Minneapolis (Arden Hills, specifically) for work next week and will have some time (I hope) for fishing one day. Any good rivers or non-secret places that have any prospects this time of year? Is anything even biting up there?

I see there are littorally (HA HA! Get it? What a terrible pun.) dozens of lakes in Arden Hills near where I'll be. Does DNR have a list of lakes where the public may fish?

There is something always biting. Just might not be what your fishing for. Check the MN dnr website. There is an area that gives metro area public fishing sites. Sounds like it's going to be cold though. This is what it looked like today a hour or so north of the twin cities.

The weather is definitely cooling off, but if you find a chance to make it out, this link could be worth a try for Minnesota Lakes. This is a great Lake Finder where you can search by county or lake name and generally find a .pdf version of a map with decent amount of detail including access points and general fish survey information.

At this time of year, the rivers with some live bait could be more productive than lakes, although it has been almost a month since I have been out fishing myself. I can't recommend anything up on the NE side of town near Arden Hills, but the Mississippi River could be a good destination. I usually hit the Coon Rapids Dam and you can catch a wide variety of species there during warmer weather, so late Fall might also be worth a go.

Good luck,
Kevin E.
