I now know a few spots that I can go out and catch Shortheads anytime. I've thought about trying to eat one. Anyone have any recipes or tips on how to fillet the bones out of the meat? Can you fillet the bones out like a pike?

If you wanted to smoke em up I have heard they are tasty just soaked in some salt water.

I guess I'll have to get a meat grinder then! Even through a meat grinder the bones are small enough that you don't feel them?

I almost made shorthead patties tonight... it is a little bit of work but so worth it!
Do most people smoke fish that has been frozen? Or is it better to use fresh fish?
