We fished for some time with no bites. Until one of the rods started bouncing and when I grabbed to make sure the hook hit home when the barrel swivel snapped......Boy I was pissed that was a nice fish. Then before I could get that one tied my line line went screaming and I got the fish up to the surface and it jumped out of the water giving a nice view with my best guess of a 45-50 inch fish. After a good fight the line gave way and we were back to fishing.
49.5 inches
~40 pounds
~20 years old
Very fat healthy fish
Steph handled this fish like a pro!
She had a rod with a heavy backbone and this fish came up fast and easy until it hit the suface then the fight was on. When the fish hit the surface it wrapped its tail up in the line making the fight harder. It got up to the surface 4 times soaking me! Even at this point I am thinking 40-45 incher. Oh and no net on board.......I forgot it. Steph played the fish until I was able to grab the tail and get my hand under the front of the fish to lift it out of the water. That was the point I realized the size.
Oh and Paula was filming and freaking out!
