Look out Doc! I was scouting for next years fishing contest this afternoon!
This afternoon I cashed in a present my dad gave me on my birthday (july 6th). The present was a 2 hour flying trip in my cousins 1965 Cherokee 4 seater. I had never been up in any of his planes, more accurately, I had never been in any plane other than a commercial airliner.
About 5:00PM this afternoon, we rolled the vintage plane out of my cousins hanger in Lydia, MN (near Jordan), which just happened to be right next to his house (some people have it rough I tell ya!). After having a look-see at his vintage open cockpit biplane, we got to the task at hand. We taxied out onto the grass runway and proceeded to lift off into a perfect afternoon sky. We reached a cruising altitude of 2500 feet and for the next 2 hours flew over just about every body of water from Jordan to Monticello, over to Buffalo (where we did a touch-and-go at the buffalo air strip, very cool!) and then back along the Minnesota river, over the RenFest grounds, and finally touched down back at Lydia. I even flew the plane for 10-15 minutes! What a rush!
I certainly found a lot more water that needs some serious investigating so I can give the ol' doctor a run for his money next year!
Here is a link to the first set of pictures from my digital camera that stayed on the ground. The aerial pictures should be loaded sometime tomorrow and I'll post those as well.

After we landed we were treated to a dinner of home made taco's, and then some R/C plane flying and finally a healthy dose of 4-wheeler fun! What a way to spend a Wednesday afternoon/evening!
