Another one of those Great days on the river with my dad.
We went back to get my dad his Bigmouth Buffalo this morning.
We got on the river and the fish were up top again same as last time.
He worked a pod for a while drifting a worm, he had a few strikes but nothing committed.
Then as he got the system figured out he finally hooked into one, but lost it during a run.
While he was doing that I was chasing feeding buffs with my flyrod. WOW I am out of practice! No luck on the nymph, but when I switched to a yellow wet fly things changed.
I hooked up on my first drift but lost him in the fight.
A few minutes later I had one rise up and slurp the fly. This time I managed to land him.
My first Bigmouth Buffalo on a flyrod, and my biggest fish on a fly rod to date. 28"
After a while I had 3 Buffalo landed on the flyrod, and my dad had lost 3. The sun was getting higher and the feeding pods were dropping down deeper and disappearing fast.
on what was probably his last chance dad had a nice buffalo rise up and take the drifted worm, this time we landed it.
A Lifer for my dad and the second lifer for the year, the first was a smallmouth bufallo.
This was the last feeding pods of buffalo we saw for the rest of the day.
My dad decided to drift a worm deeper and landed a Nice carp, Neat colors, it had a golden yellow tail.
A good day all and all.
