Lake Erie Shoreline 8/17/08 3 Months ago
Fished the Lake Erie shoreline today for whatever wanted to cooperate. They call this area the "Walleye Capital of the World" but I think they should consider the Sheephead for the honor as well. You can hardly find a time along the shoreline or out in the lake when they aren't willing to bite. I love how diverse they can look from silvery white to brown or even orangish. Not too mention sometimes the irredescent purple really stands out as well. Anyways, the good ole Freshwater Drum is considered a nuisance for anglers around here but I enjoy catching them.

A nice one from today - good looking healthy fish if you ask me...

Definately eating good..look at that size on that Drum. When other fish ain't biting, consistant Drum action is the best!

You gotta love the Great Lakes Drum! Nice fish.

Funny, while fishing Superior this weekend we were chatting about Erie and how productive the rocks/breakwalls are there. Not a lot of activity around them in the colder portions of Superior. Seems like they should be packed with smallies. My buddy had read one report that said that in around 30 yrs the temps in Superior will be very similar to what Erie is now. Seems quick, but scary if it does happen.
