Made it to the river with a good friend of mine we were thinking big walleyes and a few kicker smallies. The first spot we tried was full of fish. Over the 5 hours we fished this area of the river we got Crappies, walleye, rock bass, smallies, and channel cats. The area we fished is the deepest hole in the river for quite a few miles. With low current. The cats were tightly schooled and we easy to see on the fish finders. A simple jig and minnow held still would trigger them. It you jigged it you ran a risk of snagging the tightly schooled cats. When we saw what we suspected to be cats on the fish finder. We would stop jigging and just hold the jigs a couple feet off the bottom and they would crush it.
