I have to admit I am not a total devotee to the roughfish clan. In the fall when the water temps get into the 40's I can't get river walleyes out of my head. They are a awsome challenge. Tomorrow is the last day of my week long vacaiton. I have been targeting walleyes in rivers and getting some bonus fish along the way. Although I have not been racking up numbers, the walleyes have all been Big. Deep holes in bends that have a flat with an eddie. Where the currents cut is most times is where the drop off is. This is the spot on the spot. I have only been hitting up these spots during day light hours. Also the dam areas have been holding quite a few eater size eyes in 9-12 fow in the seems.
I didn't keep count of the smallies I have caught but it has to be 50 or more. Also rock bass up to a 1.2 pounds. A few crappies. And about a dozen or so channel cats upto about 6 pounds.
Here is the biggest eye at 27" and 7.3 pounds. And the biggest rock bass at 1.2.
