I threw my towel in after Saturday when I went on Lake Michigan and never caught a fish. I was hoping for 4 species there and 4 species inland over there. I am going to fall short of my peronal goal of 25. I didn't even get a black bullhead which live in most farm ponds around here but I didn't make it to any of those ponds. And I am blaming the flooding for not getting a flathead, northern pike, sauger, and white bass all of which are pretty common catches for me down here on the Mississippi under normal water conditions.

It's 10:50pm and i just got back from the Hudson River. Fished six hours for White Catfish. No luck, too many pesky bluefish. I'd still be there but got chased by the cops (not literally chased, just asked to 'wrap it up')an hour after sunset.

I've never really been a sandbagger... my 25 remains as is. Tried pretty hard to get a carp today and/or a flathead tonight but it was not in the cards. The flats should be spawning right about now and the carp... for some reason I've been shut out on carp this year in spite of several carp specific trips... Redhorse have been tough for me this year too.
But I got a Quillback and that is a rare enough catch (for me) to be satisfied.

"There is a species of fish that never looks at the clothes of the man who throws in the bait, a fish that takes whatever is thrown to it, when once hold of the hook, never tries to shake a friend, but submits to the inevitable, crosses its legs and says, 'Now I lay me,' and comes on the bank and seems to enjoy being taken. It is a fish that is a friend of the poor, and one that will sacrifice itself in the interest of humanity. That is the fish that the state should adopt as its trade mark, and cultivate friendly relations with, and stand by. We allude to the bullhead."

My list is done as of 11:10pm
I however, will continue to add to my count throughout the summer as a personal goal. I've had a lot of fun fishing for the contest this month, when I was able to get out on the water between being ill. But, no sour grapes. I added 2 new life-listers this month and am happy for it.
